ZANESVILLE, OH- Dedicated Ohio State University alumni came together for a watch party of the Ohio State vs. Rutgers football game today.

The alumni are part of the OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County. Not only did they come together to watch the game and cheer on their team, but they also came together to give back to the community in a big way.

“We have a silent auction going on, we just gave away our $1,000 winner, our $500 winner and a $250 winner for a scholarship raffle, we’re just here to raise some money for our kids that we donate our scholarships to, last year we gave away over $15,600 worth of scholarships to incoming and current Ohio State students, so it’s all about the kids today and raising money for a great cause,” says Bo Coconis, Vice President of the OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County.

The event was open to the public and free to attend. They began this event about six years ago and have always hosted it at The Barn in Zanesville.

“As being a fellow alumni, there’s nothing like being a Buckeye, so obviously if we can provide an opportunity for kids from Muskingum County to get to campus or one of the affiliate branches, there’s nothing like having a certificate that states the fact you’ve graduated from Ohio State University,” says Coconis.

The alumni group will be holding their scholarship auction in the spring, which serves as their largest fundraising event. For more information visit the club’s website or Facebook page.
