Ohio Stoneware Celebrates a Decade of Pottery

Ohio Stoneware celebrates 10 years July 9.

The celebration took place at their new warehouse space in downtown Zanesville. Owner of Ohio Stoneware Ross Pattison said the space is a blessing for the always growing company and although the title of ‘pottery capital of the world’ has faded, they still sell to those from all over.

“We sell all over the U.S. and Canada and have shipped to Australia and Hong Kong so with any luck we’ll be able to increase business by having extra space to store product,” said Pattison.

It turns out 10 years in business wasn’t the only thing worth celebrating for Ohio Stoneware. They also unveiled a unique piece of pottery. The vase stands three feet tall and measures two feet in width. Pattison said the vase isn’t an easy feat to conquer.

“It’s a very heavy piece. It’ll weigh about two to three hundred pounds so it’s very heavy to move around,”said Pattison. It’s a very large piece to just move around and cast and finish and all those steps that go with glazing and everything that goes with that. ”

The unique vase will spend the rest of pottery festival outside of Ohio Pottery in Norwich and the new warehouse space will not involve retail, so those looking to purchase pottery can still head to Ohio Pottery for all their pottery needs.
