OhioMeansJobs Gears up for Its Summer Employment Program

OhioMeansJobs is gearing up for its summer employment program and they want to get the word out that they’re currently accepting applicants.

The program is designed to give kids between the ages of 16 and 24 a job during the summer months. Supervisor at OhioMeansJobs, Julie Metzger, said the program allows the youth to learn skills anywhere from fork lift operator to maintenance skills.

“We do have an application process where they need to come in, stop in and pick up the application packet fill that out, return that to us and we will determine eligibility for each individual. What we’ll do once they are eligible for the program we have providers that we are working with and they will be on actual job sites,” said Metzger.

Metzger said if the youth in this program come to their summer jobs on time and do well, there may be an opportunity to get hired on with that company at the end of the summer.

“The thing is we have had youth ages 16-24 that have went through this program and the employers has picked them up as full-time employees.”

If you or someone you know may be interested in applying you can visit their business at 455 Woodlawn Avenue.
