One Vehicle Accident in Coshocton County

The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office said one person was injured during a Sunday morning accident.

Officials said that around 6:45 a.m. they received a 911 call in reference to an accident with injuries on State Route 83 about a quarter mile north of County Road 12.

Deputies said that 18-year-old Matthew Smollen, of Lucas, Ohio, was traveling south on State Route 83 when his vehicle went left of center, left the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.

The vehicle traveled over the guardrail face and went down over an embankment rolling several times.

Smollen was partially ejected and was wearing a seatbelt.

Sheriff’s deputies said the teen may have fallen asleep before the accident. He was flown by Med-Flight to Akron General Hospital.
