Opening day for the dog park at Riverside

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The dog park at Riverside has officially opened for business.

On Sunday canines and their care takers took to the park which features more than two acres of land. City of Zanesville Public Service and Development Director, Jay Bennett described today as a day of pride.

“For our community to see new construction in a park. A new park, new facilities for a large part of our community that have been undeserved,” Bennett said.

The dog park’s grand opening featured a doggie costume contest as well as a raffle drawing. Although, the grand opening was Sunday Bennett said there are plans to add more amenities to the park such as benches, trees, and a path.

“Ideas about a putting a water fountain and a water facility. Council President Vincent is interested in seeing a dog waiting pool in the dog park. That would be a lot of fun wouldn’t it,” Bennett said.
