Opening Weekend for Local Play was a Success
The Zanesville Community Theater is introducing a new play and this time there is a ‘Murder on the Nile.’
The play appears to be taking place on a cruise on the Nile. Everything appears to be fine but, there’s underlying tensions which lead to chaotic events. Director Melanie Von Guten said it’s a great time of the year for a good mystery.
“A lot of people love a good mystery especially around Halloween time and fall, it’s something that people are familiar with, between reading the books and seeing the movies,” said Von Guten.
The audience members have a chance to guess who committed the crime by entering a ballot and winners receive a prize at the end of the show. Von Gunten said if you’ve never seen the production before it’s a chance to solve a mystery and escape the day to day.
“*Laughing* if you want a good time, if you want to challenge your mind to see if you could figure out who committed the crimes,” said Von Guten. Â “If you are interested in things that took place into a historical context and if you like mysteries, this would be what you would do to enjoy yourself just for a couple of hours and get away from reality and enjoy the fantasy.”
Tickets are $15 for regular seating, $10 for those 55 and older or with a military I.D. Children 12 and younger are $5. The play will run next Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Zanesville Community Theater. For more information you can visit them online at ZCT.org. This play is also very special to the WHIZ Family because our very own morning meteorologist Phil Sakal is apart of the production as well.
