Organizers Call the ‘Life a Garden Party’ a Success!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Sunday marked day two of the 5th Annual ‘Life is a Garden Party.’

Six public and private gardens were open to the public for tours from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. Of the six was Kathy and Darrel Jenkins Garden location off of Old River Road. Kathleen Jenkins said this garden has been a part of her family since 1945 and now the property is share between her and her son.

"My son did all of the planting and I come up and water and I do a little weeds. I get rid of the weeds as I possibly can. Recently they’ve really been coming on. We were surprised by the heavy rain and it slowed us up a few days and then the weeds really took off. It’s enjoyable though," said Jenkins.

Jenkin said when they first purchase the property they had 50 foot trees in their yard and remove them because they were too close to the cabin. Now they are used as a form of art.

"The stumps that you see remain and maybe in a few years we’ll have those removed as well. But, we like to enhance them with garden type things and flowers," said Jenkins.

All proceeds from this event benefit the Zanesville Museum of Art.
