Organizers call Veterans Appreciation Weekend a Success

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Sunday wraped up the 3 day long celebration of the 2nd Annual Veterans Appreciation weekend.

Green Valley Golf Club did it’s part toward helping to send veterans to the Honor Flight out of Columbus by hosting a golf outing. Steve Galloway said the whole idea behind this project is to have fun while supporting the local veterans.

“We had 36 teams here today and that just shows the support of the community to give to the veterans and if you look out there, there are flags everywhere we have a flag on every hole. There are flags on every tee box. I have 36 teams it was just outstanding,” said Galloway.

Galloway said other golf clubs in town united by donating four rounds of golf with carts as prizes for the winning teams.

“Zanesville Country Club, Virtues Golf Course, Eaglesticks, Fuller’s Fairways, Vista, Jaycees everybody came together. We’ve got four rounds of golf with carts and those will be our top prizes that we give away today,” said Galloway.

Galloway said all proceeds raised from this event will allow them to take local Korean and WW2 Veterans to Washington D.C for a day to be honored.
