Saturday the 3rd annual Nightmare Challenge 5K Mud Run will take place at 7200 Frazeysburg Road from 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m. This mud run will feature more than 25 obstacles, which are all in viewing areas for spectators. And also there are some neat new additions to this year Nightmare Challenge 5K Mud Run.
“We wanted to make something big this year so we came up with this design,” owner Lee Emerson said. “It took us most of the summer to build it.”
“We have a kid’s course,” co-owner Lisa Emerson said. “Anyone under 12 can participate in the kid’s course.”
A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Muckingum Valley Council Boy Scout of America. Best overall male and female will receive MIC Ultra Mountain Bike. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age group will receive customized plaques, but everyone will go with home with a finisher’s metal.
“It’s very important to get everyone together and challenged. It gets people out of the house and off the couch. It gives them a goal,” Lisa Emerson said.
If you register online before Friday and use promo code “WHIZ” you’ll receive a discount. On race day only cash will be accepted. There is a 10 dollar fee for parking. There also will be food vendors on site as well. For more information, nightmarechallenge.com.
