OSHP to hold OVI checkpoint in Fairfield County on Friday

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OH- The Ohio State Highway Patrol will conduct an OVI checkpoint Friday evening in Fairfield County, the agency announced this morning.
The checkpoint, funded by federal grant money, is intended to deter and intercept impaired drivers. According to provisional data, 581 OVI-related fatal crashes occurred on Ohio roadways in 2024.
“State troopers make an average of 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous acts. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these drivers from our roadways.” Lieutenant Akers, commander of the Lancaster Post, said in a statement.
The patrol said the exact location of the checkpoint will be released Friday morning.
