OSU Extension Muskingum County 4-H Updates Co Commission on Programs

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio State University’s extension 4H program in Muskingum County was discussed at the County Commission meeting Monday morning.
The Commissioners received updates on Muskingum County 4H’s activities and upcoming programs. 4H Educator, Trevor Tom, said they are looking to increase STEM programs and workforce development. In the past few months, they have been observing what other areas are doing with 4H and what programs they can implement in Muskingum County.
“Been doing some programming at the Muskingum Family YMCA and doing some STEM programming with those students. And then kinda working on some things to get some workforce development type areas. A local government day here in the Fall and some further programs,” he said.
Tom also said that starting kids off with real world programs at a young age is important because it helps them to be successful later.
“If we can make kids who are going to be successful after we’re done with them in youth programming, that’s our ultimate goal. And so those types of programs we can see lasting effects on our youth,” he said.
Tom said Muskingum County is working to be the leader in developing the programs that are best suited for the youth.
