ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Planners at Ohio University Zanesville are focusing on a summit planned later in September. The Future of Work & Education Summit will feature discussions about the future of work, automation and internationalization.

“Right now we’ve got five generations that are in the workforce together and you know, businesses are seeing this as a struggle. Higher education is seeing it as a struggle with the needs we have to prepare the students as they enter the workforce. It’s a great opportunity to get experts from our area in to listen to what’s happening,” says Holly Voltz, Marketing & Public Relations Specialist at Ohio University Zanesville.

“Students are coming out — the texting is so prevalent. That’s how they talk. When we do our mock interviews, that’s not uncommon for students to come in and it’s very hard for them to carry on a conversation because of the way they’ve been communicating is a little bit different when you go into a workforce. So those soft skills are important,” Voltz added.

The featured speaker will be Dr. David Delong, an expert who helps leaders implement practical solutions to address critical skill shortage created by major changes in workforce demographics, shifts in generational values and new technologies.
