Over 250 members attend the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

ZANESVILLE, Ohio The Zanesville-Muskingum Chamber of Commerce brought over 250 of its members under one roof today for its Annual Chamber Luncheon on Wednesday.

The event, held at EagleSticks Golf Club, served as a networking event and a formal meeting for the chamber to conduct business matters. Chamber President Dana Matz says seeing the event sell out quickly ahead of the event was a great showcase for community support.

“Well, Zanesville-Muskingum County’s very generous and caring community. So to have a sold-out venue, luncheon, like today, it feels good. Makes you appreciate your membership and it’s also a way for them to show us they appreciate the stuff our team does,” Matz said.

Libby Spears served as the event’s keynote speaker, where she discussed how to recognize and communicate what you bring to your organization in a way that stands out. She works with chambers of commerce across the country and said she loved to be a part of Wednesday’s event.

“To come into a community, to be a part of an event like this, I’m already your advocate,” Spears said. “I want you to be successful because I think the mission of what chambers do in their communities is so vitally important. Whether you work in a for-profit company or a nonprofit, a lot of people here are probably individual business owners and what the chamber does is it brings everybody together in the room to have conversations like the one we’re going to have to do. They fill a very important need in their communities.”

The chamber also conducted business matters and held votes to approve new board members and introduce the new board leadership. The former board chairman, A.J. Patel of Zane Foodmart, passed the gavel to the new chairman, Julie Paxton of North Valley Bank.

During opening remarks, Matz announced that the Zanesville-Muskingum Chamber of Commerce ranks in the 82 percentile in the North American Region for member participation by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).
