Paddle Fan Adapter Could Bring Jobs
When investor Mike Tate learned about the Paddle Fan Adapter, he knew with his decades of experience conducting business in a warehouse, the invention is very valuable.
“Principally saw what heat and humidity did to products standing in our warehouse, palettes falling over, damaged product, a lot of wasted money and I could see the applicability of the adapter right away,” said Tate.
Potential clients are also seeing the products value.
“The folks who have come here so far have been extremely impressed and there hasn’t been anyone who’s been able to ask a question about it or shoot it down because the thing has proven itself,” said Lee Biles, Paddle Fan Adapter partner.
With businesses interested in purchasing their product, those behind the adapter are looking into mass manufacturing of several parts.
“We have a plastic housing that goes around the perimeter of this fan, we have arms that attach the housing to the fan and then we have parabolic louver, or egg crate, which sits on the bottom of the housing,” said Tate.
And they’re hopeful that can happen right here in Muskingum County.
“I believe that the work we’re doing with the local vendors, and we have some really good local companies for plastic molding as well as injection molding and machine shops to make the hanger assemblies. I am confident that we are going to do our very best to bring production of the unit to Muskingum County,” said Biles.
There is already going to be some guaranteed business coming to the 5B’s facility in Muskingum County.
“All the purchasing will be done here at 5B’s, we will bring all the components here, inventory them here, pack them here and do the shipping out of Muskingum County,” said Biles.
That production would create new job opportunities for people in the area.
“It’s kind of an American story, it’s an idea, people but risk capital behind it and it’s an idea that could be very helpful for the Zanesville area,” said Tate.
