Parents Face Endangering Children Charge

Two Guernsey County parents are expected to be formally charged with felony endangering children, a felony of the Third degree is expected to be filed on the parents as soon as Tuesday.
Guernsey County Sheriff Jeff Paden said deputies responded to a Quaker City home Friday shortly before 4:30PM after receiving a call from the Barnesville Hospital requesting a well-being check on a 6-year-old boy. Medical staff reported the boy’s mother had brought him in with severe injuries to the hands, believed to be severe frostbite.
Officials at the hospital told the sheriff’s office they told the boy’s mother that the child would need transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital by ambulance, the mother took the boy and left.
Deputies said they found the mother, father and the boy as well as his 11 year old sibling at the home. During the well-being check and preliminary investigation, deputies ultimately were able to view the boy’s hands and summoned a squad to the residence.
Deputies, took the father and mother into custody they are being held in the Guernsey County Jail. Guernsey County Children Services was also notified and responded to the scene as well.
Investigators worked throughout the weekend gathering evidence and interviewing multiple individuals including both the father and mother regarding the circumstances regarding the injuries.
