COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior center Pat Elflein has been awarded the Remington Trophy, given annually to the best center in college football.

The senior from Pickerington North High School becomes just the second Buckeye to win the honor; LeCharles Bentley won in 2001. Elflein beat out West Virginia’s Tyler Orlosky and LSU’s Ethan Pocic, who were the other finalists for the award.

Elflein, who was one of the captains for this year’s OSU team, was named Big Ten center of the year, and has started in 40 games for the Buckeyes during his career. He also was a finalist for the Outland Trophy–given each year to the nation’s best interior lineman–but lost out to Alabama’s Cam Robinson. He is the first Buckeye to win a major national award since Malcolm Jenkins won the Jim Thorpe Award in 2008.
