Patrol: Alcohol Suspected Factor in Weekend Accident

The Highway Patrol is releasing more information from a serious weekend accident that involved a Muskingum County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Sergeant Jeffrey Jirles said it happened Saturday night around 11:30 on State Route 146 near LA-Z Acre’s Campground.

Jirles said Deputy Rodney Holdcroft was traveling west on 146 when another vehicle driven by 51-year-old Crystal Mahon of Zanesville attempted to make a turn from the campgrounds onto 146 and the two collided.

The Patrol said Holdcroft was taken to Genesis Hospital in Zanesville and Mahon was taken by medical helicopter to Grant Hospital in Columbus. Both suffered incapacitating injuries.
