Paul Bunyan is Taking Over The Guernsey County Fairgrounds
The roar of chainsaws can be heard coming from the Guernsey County fairgrounds.
The Paul Bunyan show features all aspects forestry and the fairgrounds’ midway is filled with different types of forestry equipment. Organizers say they are expecting around 10,000 people to attend.
"This is the largest wood industry trade show east of the Mississippi River and we have a lot of exhibits on forestry equipment, but what we add into the show is to have the competition," says executive director with the Ohio Forestry Association, John Dorka.
Modern day Paul Bunyans will compete in the International Lumberjack Championships tomorrow at noon. Organizers say anyone can be a lumberjack, but it takes time and dedication to become an expert.
Dorka says you don’t have to be a lumberjack to have fun at the show
"We hope that a lot of people who are just interested in a good day may come enjoy the food, some of the wood products, watch the wood carving and the competition and hopefully people will learn about what wood forestry is about in the state of Ohio," says Dorka.
Over 100 vendors and 12 educational seminars are available for anyone interested in the outdoors.
"This is an amazing event, especially with the bright sunshine and all the exhibits. If you are not in the forest industry, people are absolutely amazed at the, all the varied equipment," tells President of the Ohio Forestry Association, Walt Lange.
Tomorrow is the last day for the Paul Bunyan Show. If you are interested in the outdoors or forestry, check out the competition and the Bunyon Burgers at the Guernsey County Fairgrounds tomorrow from 8 am to 4 pm.
