Perry Co. Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest

Stephens
NEW LEXINGTON, OH –A man is behind bars in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail after a report of a suspicious male in the roadway acting erratic.
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office said Kenneth Ryan Stephens faces charges of aggravated menacing, burglary, criminal damaging and criminal trespassing.
The incident took place just before 9:30pm on Sunday when deputies responded to the area of State Route 13 and Zion Road. Authorities said they received numerous calls about the man approaching vehicles and punching windows and others saying he was throwing stones at vehicles.
The sheriff’s office said one driver pointed a firearm at the male, causing the suspect to flee south on State Route 13, where he attempted to enter a home with the homeowner firing one round from a shotgun, in a safe direction, to scare the would-be intruder off.
With the assistance from other law enforcement agencies Stephens was located on Township Road 94 and taken into custody without incident.
