Perry County Fair Kicks Off Monday

The Perry County Fair Grounds are filling with live stock, rides and classic fare.

July 20 marks day one for the week long festivities and Junior Fair Board Chairman Simon Murdock said the board is excited to see their year-long work come to life for the community.Perr

“The fair’s always a blast,” said Murdock. “We have six different rides, we’ve got your thrillers like Top Gun and we also have your slow ones like the Ferris Wheel which people always seem to love. ”

Everyone loves the Elephant Ear, popcorn and Cotton Candy as well as the rides for kids of all ages but that’s not all the fair will offer.

“Well Monday night we have the Nitro Derby,” said Murdock. “Thursday is the Rodeo and then Saturday is the Truck and Tractor Pull and that’s always up until like four in the morning.
The Live Stock Sale is on Saturday and different animals show different days of the week. Wednesday is hogs, Tuesday and Thursdays is goats, rabbits I think are Monday and there’s no chickens this year because of the Avian Flu.”

Admission and Rides costs just $8.00 a day. The fair grounds are located in New Lexington.

WHIZ’s radio stations, Z-92 and Highway 103 will be giving away prizes at the fair and reporting live throughout the the week so tune in for updates.
