ZANESVILLE, OH – Perry County residents are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 72nd annual Fair in New Lexington.

The Fair kicks off on Monday, July 14th, with the Demolition Derby, Fast Traxx Motocross on Tuesday, live performers all week, and so much more.

Jessica Rockey, an Educator in 4H Youth Development with the Perry County OSU Extension Office, says to head over to the 4 H and FFA building to see all of the still projects the kids have worked on.

“I would say, my suggestion is, to always check out some of those classics.” Rocky said. “And certainly come check out everything that the kids have to show off for the week. So a lot of livestock shows happening, opportunities to see awesome kids and awesome animals in the ring and also we have displays of several still projects, or non-livestock projects, available throughout the fairgrounds.”

Rocky says her favorite part of Fair Week is the Showmen of Showmen Competition.

She says it gives kids the opportunity to work with and show an animal that they may have never even worked with before and it’s amazing to see their skills grow.

“There will be a different show or two every single day but I would say the highlight is, and it’s one of my favorites, is our Showmen of Showmen Competition.” Rockey said. “Which kind of wraps up the whole event on Friday night and that is showmanship winners from every species. Kind of rotating around the show ring showing everything. So a kid is going to have to show cattle, and a horse, and a pig, and a sheep, and a goat, and a chicken, and a rabbit and see how well they can do showing everything.”

The Perry County Fair runs July 14th through the 19th.
