Pet of the Week: Lolli Awaits a Forever Home as Shelter Remembers Beloved Canine Ambassador Tess
ZANESVILLE, OH – The Animal Shelter Society has named Lolli, a two-month-old terrier poodle, as this week’s Pet of The Week.
Lolli is full of energy, gets along great with cats, and would make a wonderful addition to any home looking for a playful and loving companion. If you’re looking for a furry friend, Lolli could be the perfect match.
“We do have to be careful; she gets under your feet. We’ve got to make sure that whoever is adopting her out is careful with that so there’s no falls for them or for Miss Lolli. She likes cats, but most of the cats here out weight Lolli. We have that situation with her. She’s very high energy, she loves to run in circles, and she would make a really good pet. She’d be really good for hypoallergenic as well. She doesn’t shed,” Executive Director April Gibson said.
In sad news, the shelter is mourning the loss of their beloved canine ambassador, Miss Tess, who passed away at just 8 years old. Tess was a special part of the shelter’s family, was known by the community, and will be deeply missed by staff and volunteers.
“It is with great sadness that we lost our canine ambassador, Miss Tess. Everybody in this community knows her, she pulled this community together for the Animal Shelter. We pulled her off the floor for adoption four years ago, and we knew that would be a molding community barrier breaker. She was it. She loved to go to assisted living each month. You know, we’re into seven different ones. She loved to go into schools, she loved the older population, she loved the kids, and she just wanted to be around folks. Last night, she passed away here at the shelter. It’s very difficult on the staff. You grow close to these animals. You take it very personally. The only solace we have with this is that we felt that we gave her the best possible home. That is our job here. Our job is to find the best possible home for the animals, and we think that we did that with Tess,” Gibson said.
Tess’s memory will live on in the hearts of everyone at the Animal Shelter Society and in the community. For those interested in adopting Lolli or another four-legged friend, visit the Animal Shelter Society’s website.
