Pet Of The Week: Meet Zeus

Zanesville, OH- This week’s pet of the week is looking to step down from Mount Olympus and join your family.

Zeus is a ball of thunder and lightning rolled into a mix of poodle, australian shepherd and a little bit of heeler. He is just over a year old and gets along with everything and everyone. Zeus is a unique pet of the week.

“What makes Zeus very special, and one of the things, great things we do here at the shelter, is we treat them. When he came in, he was heartworm positive. That’s why it is so important to get your animal tested. We can not stress that enough. We can do that here as part of our wellness clinic and such,” stated Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, April Cohagen-Gibson.

His perfect home would be somewhere with a big backyard or land because once he is back to normal he will be ready to run. Small children and dogs may not be a good fit because he may knock them over with his puppy strength. He is 70 pounds now but may get up to around 80 soon. He is a very loving dog.

“Don’t let it stop you, an animal being positive for heartworms for stopping an adoption because he deserves to have a great home. Zeus is a great dog. You got to remember out there, we can’t stress it enough, it’s preventative. We have that wellness clinic, we don’t have a waitlist anymore at our wellness clinic,” said Cohagen-Gibson.

You can stop by the shelter at 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, or make an appointment online at the shelter’s website if you would like to make Zeus a part of your world.
