ZANESVILLE, OH – A local business is giving back to the community and is challenging other businesses to do the same.

With Thanksgiving just a few days away, Owner of Phillips Meat Processing, Dale Phillips decided to donate 100 hams to four nonprofits here in Zanesville.

Phillips says those four nonprofits are Christ’s Table, Eastside Community Ministry, Homeless Hands, and the Salvation Army.

He says he wanted to give back to the community that has supported his business over the years.

“We feel like we should give back to the community, they have been so good to us.” Phillips said. “We just want to help them, you know just, we have the opportunity to do that so that’s what we’re doing.”

Phillips says this donation means a lot to him and his company, knowing they are helping those that are facing food insecurity.

He also explained what made this donation possible and says he hopes to encourage other businesses to give back to the community as the holidays approach.

“Because we got the grant from the State, this makes this stuff all the more possible.“ Phillips said. “I do challenge other companies, maybe they can help out too. You know, let’s put that challenge out there.”

Phillips says they will continue to give back to the community through donations like this and the Farmers and Hunters Feed the Hungry program for as long as they can.
