ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Christmas is less than a month away and for many, the search for the perfect Christmas tree is on.

People need to decide between an artificial tree or a real one. Timber Run Gardens Owner Steve Carter said it’s important to get the right tree for you.

“If you have a really nice artificial tree, the best compliment you can get is, gee it looks real. And if you have a real tree, the best compliment you can get is gee it looks artificial. The improvements in the artificial trees they really are nice, but it doesn’t give the ambiance of a real tree in your house,” said Carter.

Carter said if people choose a real one they can get either a tree that is ‘live’ or cut. A live tree has not been cut and people can plant after the holiday season is over. If you want a cut tree, Carter recommends a Fraser fir.

“The needle retention is really good. You don’t get any needle dropping. And they stay fresh for months. I’ve seen them stay. They look nice in the spring if you put them on your deck or something. They seem to be the creme of the crop, that’s for sure.”

Cater said cost of trees can vary. He said the cost of most Fraser firs are in the $50 range.
