Pickleball, PAWs, and a Purrr-fect Cause

ZANESVILLE, OH–It’s set to be an exciting day for pickleball enthusiasts and animal lovers—the second annual Animal Shelter Society Pickleball 4 Paws event is right around the corner.

Whether you’re an experienced pickleball player or new to the game, this event offers a chance for fun and friendly competition, all while supporting a great cause. All proceeds from the event will go directly toward helping the shelter’s animals.

The event will be Saturday May 31st at Riverside from 8am-3pm. If rainy weather affects the event, it will be moved to the Y.

For those looking to keep their pets safe, the shelter is offering $12 microchips. Microchipping ensures pets can always be reunited with their owners, just like Ms. Liyla, a cat who was reunited with her military family thanks to her microchip.

“Ms. Liyla, who was a feline adopted out of Poland by a military family, was reunited with them because of a microchip,” said April Gibson, the Executive Director of The Animal Shelter Society. “In honor of her and her family, we are offering $12 microchips, where they’re normally $25.”

The shelter currently has over 100 animals waiting for their forever homes.
