Pig Show Coming on Wednesday
The Perry County Fair fired up the rides and deep fryers July 20.
But while the lines grew for the top gun and funnel cakes some were preparing to say goodbye to a friend.
“We buy pigs, these are our six pigs and we raise them from when they’re just little,” said 4-H Member Garret Helser. “It’s fun. I mean it’s fun to raise them. I usually cry because we sell them on Saturday and then the people come and they get them. ”
Pigs take the stage on Wednesday and are up for sale on Saturday. Helser said that all though it’s sad, he just remembers it’s the reason he’s at the fair with his pig ‘Boss Hog’ this week.
“This is the whole reason we raise them so I mean if we’re not going to bring them to the fair might as well not raise them,” said Helser.
Cauy Sprankle also comes out to show his pigs and he said the pigs have had a positive impact on his life.
“It’s been a learning experience,” said Sprankle. “It’s also fun. They make you laugh. They have their own personalities, attitudes and they’re just cool to have around. ”
Both boys celebrate their third year showing this year. Pigs will show this Wednesday at the fair.
