Police: Fatal shooting of Ohio teen reported as accident

RAVENNA, Ohio (AP) — A 17-year-old old boy who reportedly shot himself in the chest early Saturday in a city outside Cleveland has died, police said in statement posted on Facebook.

The teen, who has not been identified, was shot at an apartment building in Ravenna and was pronounced dead at a hospital, Ravenna police said.

Officers have questioned the only witness who remained at the scene, police said, and that others may have fled before officers and paramedics arrived.

A handgun was found at the scene.

Ravenna is roughly 40 miles (64 kilometers) southeast of downtown Cleveland.
