ZANESVILLE, Ohio– The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority met Wednesday to discuss the latest economic development projects.

The highlight of the meeting is the new developments with a 30 acre site at the airport industrial park, the port authority has received a grant from Jobs Ohio to remediate some of the soil.

“Today we secured an engineering firm to keep that process moving forward,” Executive Director Matt Abbott said. “This will be a shovel ready site here in Muskingum County that we’ll have to market and it will have great accessibility. All the infrastructure in place to house a new business looking to locate in our county.”

Abbott said there’s no telling when a business will show interest in the airport site. Abbott said he would like an investment.

“I would like to see a job creator. I would like to see a job creator that pays a fair wage to the community members and job seekers that are out there. It would be great to drive pass that site and see people going to work everyday because, ultimately with the City of Zanesville [and] the county investing in the port authority, that’s what we’re out to do. And that’s what we’re working on currently,” Abbott said.

Also at Wednesday’s meeting. It was announced that Mike Bennett is the newest board member, Bennett took Tom Poorman’s vacant seat.
