Postal Workers Rally in Zanesville
A group of postal workers is trying to keep thousands of post offices open and continue Saturday delivery.
Members of the Ohio Letter Carrier’s Association gathered in front of Congressman Bob Gibb’s office in Zanesville. Floyd Edler said the Postal Service is not going broke, but congress needs to allow the Postal Service to stabilize costs.
"Where the money is at is in the pre-funded retirement health benefits program," said Edler. "There’s over 70 billion dollars there."
Edler said congress wants to privatize the Postal Service, which would greatly impact its efficiency. He said false information circulating through the media could destory a national treasure that serves every American and business.
"What’s happening is congress combined with the Postal Service is trying to confuse the public from what’s actually happening," said Edler.
