Preparations under way for the annual Z.D.G.A. Golf Show

The annual Zanesville District Golf Association Golf Show is just a few weeks away.

This year the Z.D.G.A. is offering something new at the show. Four golf club manufacturers will be in attendance with the latest line of clubs for attendees to try and give feedback. This will go along with the long drive competition that takes place each year. Event organizer and Zanesville Country Club’s Golf Pro, Mike Durant, said the event gets people together after a long winter off from golf.

“It’s a great time,” Durant said. “It’s a lot of fellowship, people that love golf, you get to come out and see the buddies that you’re normally playing golf with [and] get excited about golf season.”

Not only is fellowship important to Durant, but he said raising money for the association’s scholarship fund is also very important to him. President of the association, Steve Galloway said the event helps raise money for the $4,500 worth of scholarships the Z.D.G.A. gives out each year.

“All the money raised will be going to our junior programs,” Galloway said. “What better way to grow the golf industry than with our junior golfers?”

Tickets are $5, and all proceeds from the event will go towards the scholarship fund and helping to advance golf with the Z.D.G.A’s junior league. The show will be at Eagle Sticks Country Club on February 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
