Preparing for “RoadTrip U.S.A.”
On September 4, the stage will be set at the Salvation Army.
The Renner Theatre will perform, “RoadTrip U.S.A.” taking you back to the 1960s, at the Salvation Army’s annual Dinner Theatre. The show follows two men on their journey to San Francisco. Co-producer of the show, George Patterson said it’s a musical journey.
“The performance has a message with it as well,” Patterson said. “Without giving too much away of the show, the gentleman who leaves his farm to go out to San Francisco looking for a better life, better things out there finds that maybe there’s really no better place in this world than home.”
Tickets for the event cost $50 for a couple or $30 for individuals. The night starts at 6:00 p.m. on September 4 with a silent auction.
“The money goes to providing food for people for our food pantry,” said chairman of the Salvation Army advisory board, Tom Sulens. “It also helps, we have a shelter here. We provide other assistance for families, but mainly, for food during the summer months as opposed to the money that typically comes in through the kettles in the winter.”
You can visit the Salvation Army on Putnam Avenue in Zanesville to purchase tickets. Sulens said the night usually helps to raise between $5,000 and $10,000 to support the Army’s mission.
