Principal Suspended for not Reporting Assault

A Perry County high school principal has been suspended for not reporting a sexual assault. It happened in the Northern Local School District. A girl claimed to school officials that she had been assaulted and bullied by the alleged assailant. In a letter dated February 21st Superintendent Thomas Perkins placed principal Chris King on unpaid suspension and said he will recommend to the school board to be terminated. According to Ohio law school administrators must report such incidents to law enforcement or children’s services. Perry County Sheriff William Barker says his office is working on the case and preparing a final report to present to the Perry County Prosecutor. He will determine if any charges are filed. Barker would not comment on the identity of the suspect in the case. Whiz News left a message for Superintendent Perkins but he was unavailable for comment.
