Problems for 9-1-1 in New Concord

9-1-1 service is out to residents of New Concord.

New Concord Fire Chief Brent Gates said Thursday morning that there was a barn fire in Guernsey County that burned through the main trunk line of phone line.

As a result anyone with an 826 exchange cannot call long distance, outside the village or 9-1-1. Also cell service is down to all providers, except Verizon.

Repair crews on the scene say service should be restoredby 5 p.m. Thursday.

Anyone that has an emergency should call the New Concord Fire Department at 826-4986 or 826-7616. For those on the Muskingum University you should call campus police at 826-8155. If you are a customer of Guernsey Muskingum Electric Cooperative and you suffer a power outage this is the number to call: 1-866 459-8657.
