Public Safety Committee Meeting
Zanesville, OH-The City of Zanesville’s Public Safety Committee discussed ways to improve vehicle flow on Northpointe Drive.
A traffic light was recently put in at the intersection of Fairview and Northpointe. Officials discussed ways to improve traffic flow between Fairview and Richvale by addressing the 20 mile per hour difference.
“At this point they are doing a traffic study. To find what the best solution would be. Right now the speed limit goes from 55 to 35. So, a step down would help so it doesn’t come on drivers to quickly. Where they go from 55 to all of a sudden going 35. The idea of a traffic light could help, but there doing a traffic study to see what the best solution may be,” Zanesville City Council Member Mark Ballmer said.
A motion was made to recommend the traffic order to full council. In other news, Paws of Muskingum County spoke to the committee about the challenges they face with stray cats and believes the city needs a new ordinance in dealing with these animals.
‘The responsibility is that there is a cat problem in the city and county for strays’ cats. How do we address it? How do we deal with it? How do we handle it properly, so these cats are taken care of,” said Ballmer.
The next public safety meeting will be held in Zanesville city hall June 2nd at 5 pm.
