Muskingum Co.- A local company is helping animals in our area.

Nestle Purina presented a $25,000 donation to leaders of Paws of Muskingum County to support the renovation of a 6,000 square foot building that was recently gifted to Paws to serve as a hub for food and litter distribution as well as storage for kennels and supplies. The space will house a future mobile spay and neuter clinic-a key part of the organization plan to reach more underserved areas.

“We are honored to accept this donation from Purina as it will help us make a difference in the community for pets and people,” said Teresa M. Hildebrand, president of PAWS of Muskingum County. “Purina’s investment brings us closer to our goal of offering local, accessible care and expanding services that reduce overpopulation and prevent unnecessary euthanasia.”

Paws currently averages 2,300 spay and neuter procedures and more than 500 adoptions a year. The mobile unit and the organization’s plans for a future permanent clinic will continue to expand that impact across Muskingum and surrounding communities.

The donation from Purina was delivered through the Purina Trust Fund, recognizing organizations that work to positively impact Purina’s Operating Communities.

“At Purina, we focus on crafting the best quality food for pets, but we are just as passionate about the communities where we serve,” said Nabor Carino, Purina Zanesville factory manager. “We are thrilled to present PAWS of Muskingum County with a Purina Trust Fund grant and continue our partnership in the community and support the welfare of Muskingum County pets.”

In the last five years, Purina has contributed more than $150 million to organizations focused on making a difference for pets, people and the planet. The Purina Zanesville factory opened in 1973, currently employing more than 150 local associates.
