Quinn Family Bash Returns in 2023

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Covid-19 pandemic has prevented more than its share of social gatherings and events, which has kept many people isolated and alone. 

One such event was the Quinn Family Bash that was created to uplift and support people battling mental illness and addiction with a fun, sociable atmosphere filled with music and laughter.

Event Organizer and National Alliance on Mental Illness Officer Paul Quinn talked about the event and how it gives people an opportunity to communicate and recognize that they are not alone.

“Well we’re excited on Friday, we’re going to have the Quinn Family Bash, which had been an event for 20 years and had been interrupted the last three years by Covid,” Quinn Said. “So we’re excited to finally bring this back to the community. And really the idea is to have a fun day for celebrating recovery from mental illness and addiction. You know, we thought maybe this event had run its course after 20 years but we just had an outpouring from people saying they missed that event.”

What started as a family musical gathering in a living room has grown into an event that features multiple entertainers performing to hundreds of people.

“Get Shorty has agreed to come out and kick things off. So we’re going to have a little jam session with Shorty and Steve Spires and some of the Quinn’s. We’re going to have a little jam session. My nephew Brian Quinn is an accomplished musician, who plays in Blues bands in the Chicago area and I’m excited to hear him playing with Get Shorty. That promises to be a whole lot of fun. And then the Quinn Family will perform for a couple of hours, doing our usual hijinks,” Quinn said.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by NAMI-Ohio and will take place Noon this Friday, at the Zanesville Muskingum County Welcome Center, located at 205 North Fifth Street in Zanesville.
