Race for Grace: Thanksgiving Run and Walk to Fight Hunger
ZANESVILLE, OH – This Thanksgiving, before the turkey and pie, the community is invited to get moving for a great cause during the 17th annual Race for Grace.
On Thanksgiving morning, November 28th, runners and walkers will gather at Grace United Methodist Church at 9 AM to kick off the beloved 5K race. The route will take participants through the streets of downtown Zanesville and the Zane’s Landing Trail. Registration is $30, but for those signing up on race day, the fee is $35. Walkers are also welcome to join with a one-mile walk offered for free.
“It’s a fun morning. We know it’s Thanksgiving. It’s a chance for those cooks to maybe get the other people out of the house and give them a break so they can get their cooking done. I enjoy the fellowship and seeing the comradery with everybody,” Race Director Matt Schreiber said.
This race isn’t just about crossing the finish line, it’s about setting the pace in the fight against hunger. All the proceeds from the event will help stock the shelves at local pantries and help combat food insecurity.
“With the food insecurity in the community continuing to grow with food prices and with inflation, it’s just nice to be able to provide some security for those individuals. The Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds program is currently packing 100 meals a week at Maysville school district to send home with kids every week,” Schreiber said.
Grace United Methodist Church is located at 516 Shinnick Street in Zanesville. To sign up or to get more details, visit the website linked below.
