Rain Causing Flooded Roads

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz warns people of standing water on roadways.

He reported to us that many roads across the area are covered in water after a constant rain this week. Lutz urged drivers to be cautious when they come across high water on roads.

There have also been numerous reports of debris covering roads.

Fire departments continue to stress the mantra of "turn around, don’t drown" meaning, if you see water covering the road, it could be much higher than you think and you should head in the other direction. It only takes roughly a foot of water to sweep a car off the roadway.
