Raise the Curtain for the 34th Annual Christmas Benefit Show
ZANESVILLE, OH – Celebrate the season in style by joining the Zane Trace Players for their upcoming event.
The 34th Annual Christmas Benefit Show, titled “For the Children,” will take place at the Renner Theater.
Zane Trace President and Show Director Rich Tolliver shares what goes into a production like this.
“We start in the beginning of October, then we have auditions. Anybody that wants to be in the show is in the show and if you want lines or if you want to sing, I’ll do my best to write you in,” said Tolliver. “Then we start eight weeks of rehearsal, get everything together and we develop the story as we go.”
All participants in the show are volunteers who come together to share their love for theater and performing arts. Many of the performers began as children and continue to return to the stage in adulthood. The performance isn’t the only focus holiday season; they also aim to raise funds and awareness for their cause.
“My wife and I have a four-year-old little boy that we’ve had for a little over three years,” Tolliver said. “We adopted him and discovered more about Child Services. We partnered with them and decided to fund Christmas for 50 kids that are on their list. Unfortunately, those kids aren’t on any other list.”
If you would like to support the Zane Trace Players, you can attend the show December 12th-14th at 8p.m. or catch the final performance on December 15th at 2:30p.m. While there will be a raffle, admission is by monetary donation, and any amount is appreciated.
All proceeds will be used to purchase gifts for children under the care of Child Protective Services. For more information, please visit the Renner Theater’s website.
