“Not that our blood donors aren’t important,” Henderson said. “They’re one of the most important volunteers that we have because we do collect over 41% of the nation’s blood and that is all from volunteer donors. We’re so much more than that, we are actually the best thing that happens to someone on the worst day of their life.”
The American Red Cross of Southeast Ohio provides for Athens, Belmont, Coshocton, Gallia, Guernsey, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Vinton, and Washington counties.
“Every county that we help, we’re always in need of volunteers,” said Henderson.
Henderson said their volunteers make up 90%
of the workforce throughout the nation and for those who may be interested in volunteering can attend the Red Cross Open House.
“We just want to invite the community to come out if they’ve ever thought about volunteering and getting involved with the Red Cross,” Henderson said. “It would be a great informational night, there is no pressure and we’ll talk about what we do and how they can help out.”
The Open House will be at 5:30 P.M. on March 22, 2017 at the southeast chapter house located at 7650 East Pike in Norwich Ohio. For more information go to redcross.org and click on ‘Local Red Cross (43701) and it will guide you to the local webpage or call Henderson’s office (740) 844-2017.
