Red White & Run To Be Held At OUZ
If you want to start your Fourth of July off in a healthy way, the Muskingum Recreation Center has the solution for you.
The third annual 5k "Red White & Run" will be held at the OUZ Collegiate Trail. The entry fee is twenty five dollars through July second. Any date after that is thirty dollars. Health and Special Populations Coordinator, Brooke Smith told us more about some of the new things this year will offer.
"We have [the] National Anthem being sung by Steve Spires and he’s also going to hang around and sing a few more patriotic songs." Said Smith, "Something new this year and we also have the Zanesville Fire Department coming with a ladder truck and they are going to display the American Flag as the National Anthem is being sung."
More flags will also be added to the course this year for an even more patriotic running or walking experience. Smith told us more about its purpose each year.
"It’s just an event that we didn’t have in our community so that’s what started it a few years ago and it’s just a great way to start the Fourth of July in a fun and patriotic way."
The event kicks off at 8AM this Saturday, rain or shine. You can learn more about the event or register at the website: www.muskingumrecreationcenter.org
You can also register in person at the Rec Center.
