Remembering the Reason Behind the Holiday
ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â As we celebrated Thanksgiving Day, it is important to remember the reason behind the holiday. Abraham Lincoln recognized the last Thursday of November as Thanksgiving Day in the 1860s.
Along with the parades, pies, football games, and turkeys, the tradition of Thanksgiving is a day we are surrounded by family and friends. Most importantly, reminisce about the people and things we are grateful for. Now as the year is drawing closer to an end, we asked some of the you we were able to talk  Thursday what they’re most thankful for.
“I’m thankful for the beautiful day God has given us today, and I’m just thankful for family. It’s so amazing to have family to share the holiday with” said Becky Woods.
“My family and that everybody’s healthy and well nobody is sick in our family” said Tuff Zembra.
“I’m thankful for my health, I’ve had some really bad issues over the years. I’m very fortunate” said Debbie Savage.
“I thought about that this morning when I woke up. And the first thing that came to mind was what was I thankful for. And I have to put family on the top of my list. I’m just blessed because I have my work family here, volunteers which are like my family. Those that we serve which are my family. Most importunately my mom, my sister and brother will be here; and all my nieces and nephews getting to spend time with them. I’m very very thankful. I’m so thankful for this community. We couldn’t live in a better community. It’s not just about Christ’s table. It’s about all that happen in this community, living in a small town” Â said Executive Director of Christ’s Table, KeelyWarden.
And of course we here at WHIZ are thankful for the continued support of viewers like you. And we hope all of you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving.
