Renner Theater Presents the Angel Tree Benefit
The 25th Annual Angel Tree benefit has raised over $160,000 over the 25 years to give children in the area gifts for Christmas. This year raising $5,000.
The Renner Theater hosted the Annual Angel Tree play this weekend and today was the final performance. The event was free to the public but they did accept donations.
“It’s a family tradition of people coming to see it. I’ve actually had a girl that played baby Jesus one year and gave birth to a child that play baby Jesus another year. So, we’ve had people that come back for year, to year, to year. It’s wonderful,” said Director, Richard Tolliver.
Tolliver told us, after seeing the performance folks are ready to celebrate the Christmas season.
“You’re going to just get immersed into the Christmas spirit. We try to pull you in from the beginning and as the show goes on people walk away and they’re ready to go for Christmas. That’s what we’re after, make them feel good,” said Tolliver.
All of the money will go directly toward buying gifts for the children of the Angel Tree for the Salvation Army. Mayor Tilton congratulated Tolliver on his successful anniversary with a proclamation.
