Report: Car Into Pond

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says rescue teams were called after a vehicle ended up in a pond just off the Maysville Pike.

Lutz says it happened just across the street from the Maysville Regional Water District building. An employee there saw a vehicle go off the road and into the pond. Rescue boats and dive teams were called to the scene, and it’s likely now more of a recovery than a rescue due to the cold air and water.

Zanesville Highway Patrol Lt. Matt Boyd says the car slammed through the ice of the frozen pond, and by the time rescue crews arrived, the hole where the vehicle went in had re-frozen. The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation, and no other details have been released at this time. WHIZ News has a crew on the scene.
