Resolutioning 2025

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The beginning of a new year marks the perfect opportunity for people to begin better habits.

Several community leaders have shared some of the changes they would like to make during 2025.

“I’d say as a new year’s resolution, one of my goals is to try to get younger people engaged or reengaged in our community. I’m happy to be in my 60s, working to improve the city but I really think what we have to do community wide is engage people in their 20s and 30s to get involved because we’re really trying to do all this for their families,” Zanesville Mayor Don Mason said.

“You know for me, for a New Year’s resolution, really, is to try to look at how AI and new technology might be able to work within the philanthropic sector. That may sound really highfalutin but I’m sure there’s a couple of videos on YouTube I can watch to try to figure out how we might be able to integrate some of that stuff into some of the work we’re doing here at the community foundation,” Muskingum County Community Foundation CEO Brian Wagner Said.

“Well I don’t really have New Year’s resolutions. I try to make goals but I haven’t come up with any goals yet. But I hope that on, you know, whatever I end up doing I can make Zanesville at least a little better place to live,” Zanesville Redevelopment Administrator Chris Crook said.

“I think that resolutions are great. Obviously for certain people. I’ve tried them in the past. But for 2025, I don’t really have any because I don’t want to break any. So I’m just trying to do better and keep my promises to myself,” Zanesville Redevelopment Administrator Maria Brent said.

“I don’t personally have any New Year’s resolutions. In our line of work we do see a lot. Obviously, dealing with people that have had some dependency issues, we see a lot of resolutions and a lot of people have held onto them so we commend them for that,” Zanesville Police Chief Scott Comstock said.

“I think that New Year’s resolutions can be an effective tool so that you can focus on things that you want to focus on. It’s a motivator, whether it lasts or not, it can be good or bad, it’s up to you,” Zanesville Patrolman Brian Wolfe said.

Some folks daydream, some strategize, while others just try to get through the day. Whichever case fits you, we wish you a happy 2025.
