Resource Fair at Colony Square Mall Connects Individuals with Disabilities to Local Support
ZANESVILLE, Ohio–The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities held their resource fair at Colony Square Mall Tuesday.
The event was held for individuals with disabilities to learn more about resources within their community. Many organizations tabled at the event to spread the word about opportunities relating to transportation, employment, recreation, technology and more.
“This is our resource fair, and we just try to get the word out to as many community organizations as we can. I think we have about 35 here and they cover all kinds of topics, everything from tech resources to recreation in the community,” MCBDD Community Outreach and Special Projects Coordinator Jenna Conaway said.
According to the MCBDD service and support administrator Kat Burris, many individuals with disabilities are unaware of the resources and aid available to them.
“Our community is underserved not because we don’t have the resources but because people don’t know what’s out there. I also think it’s important because it gets our people out in the community and interacting with everybody so that we can all interact together,” Burris said.
The Board of Developmental Disabilities would like to remind the community that they provide support to people of all ages and for more information you can visit their website.
