Respiratory Awareness

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local health provider is gearing up to address respiratory awareness at multiple public events that take place in Muskingum County each summer.

Rambo Memorial Health Center Executive Director Shannon Bell talked about steps they have taken to educate the public, while having fun in the process.

“With the help of the Respiratory Care Association, Rambo Health Center was able to purchase this van with the graphics and the van is designed to make us more visible in the community and to promote all of the great things that Rambo Health Center does. And we at a lot of health fairs, we try to go to events and obviously we try to put Wheezer out there in the community to give kiddoes education about things,” Bell said.

Their mascot, Wheezer has been around for 3 years and has been a wonderful addition in providing public relations and educational assistance.

“We have some upcoming events coming up this summer,” Bell said. “We have our Asthma Camp in June, which is always a big hit. This year, we’re going to do a new thing where we are going to ride the Lorena with Wheezer. We’re going to do some vaping education, it’s going to be open to kids of all ages. We don’t just have to have asthma for that. The dates will soon follow on that. We don’t have a specific date. And then we’ll also be at the Muskingum County Fair all week. Wheezer will be at the fair.”

Rambo Memorial Health Center has taken care of Muskingum County respiratory patients for generations and is taking steps toward teaching the youth healthy habits for decades to come.
