RIchard F. “Paps” Baker (October 18, 1927 – August 1, 2011)

RIchard F. “Paps” Baker, 83 of Roseville , OH died 1:15 AM Monday, August 01, 2011 at his residence.

He was born Tuesday, October 18, 1927 in Newark the son of Jay Frank and Clarissa E.(Livingston) Baker. He was married on Wednesday, December 29, 1982 to Norma R. ( Archer ) Baker .

He was a WWII United States Air Force Veteran and when he was discharged from the service he worked for 12 years on the B & O Railroad. In 1960 he started working in the concrete business and in 1967 he moved to Roseville & founded B & B Cast Stone, Inc. and was still involved with the company until his death. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, pheasant hunting and deer hunting, fishing, bowling and traveling. He was a member of the Grotto, the Masons, the Moose Lodge 867 and a Lifetime member of the Roseville American Legion.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by seven children, Barry (Barb McClintock) Baker of Columbus, Terry (Vikki) Baker of Columbus, Patty West-Volland of Glenford, Terry West of West Virginia, Rodger (Patty) West of Zanesville, Rosabeth (Reinhard) Dorfhuber of California and Brenda (David) Zienta of Zanesville; ten grandchildren, Lance Baker, Curtis Baker, Paul Volland, Luella Epler, Misty West, Everett West, Stephanie Glassmire, Kyle Hittle, Kody Hittle and Natasha Dorfhuber. 19 great grandchildren with one more, “Speedy Hittle” on the way. Many special friends including Ron & Becky Brydon , Klemm & Jan Ungemach, Stan Watson and Ralph Wetzel all together known as the “French River Musketeers”. His special pets “Ralphie” the dog & “Sprint” the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Thursday August 4th from 4 to 7 pm with funeral services on Friday August 5th at 10am with Reverand Lace officiating at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Burial with Military honors to conclude at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
