Riesbeck’s Food Markets Celebrates 100 Years
ZANESVILLE, OH – A local grocery store chain is celebrating a major milestone in our community.
This year Riesbeck’s Food Markets are celebrating 100 years of service to Southeast Ohio.
Stephen Riesbeck, the Corporate Programs Manager, said it’s amazing for any store to make it to this milestone, but for him it feels extra special.
“But particularly a grocery retail and a family business as well,” Stephen Riesbeck said. “We’re on our 4th generation of family participating in our operations and on our board of directors and we’re extremely proud of that fact.”
Stephen said the story of Riesbeck’s becoming what it is today, began when his grandmother, Margaret Riesbeck, moved back to Woodsfield with her 5 children after unexpectedly losing her husband. He said that’s when she had the idea to open the first cornerstone market, on March 14th, 1925.
Brian Riesbeck, the Co-President, said it’s amazing that his family’s business is still around after 100 years and is competing with other big retailers.
“It’s really a testament to every employee that has worked for us over the 100 years,” Brian Riesbeck explained. “And that we can still be here today basically because of their hard work.”
To celebrate Grandma Riesbeck and commemorate their 100 years in the community, Riesbeck’s will be offering exciting deals and events at all of their stores.
